A heated confrontation erupted on Tuesday between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and some Nigerian Navy personnel over an alleged case of land grabbing in the Gaduwa District of Abuja.

The incident, captured in a video obtained by our correspondent, showed Wike visibly furious as he accused the Navy of illegally taking over a parcel of land reportedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff.

“Because you are an officer? Nobody does that. The man took land because he was the Chief of Naval Staff?” the minister fumed during the exchange.

The confrontation took place when Wike visited the disputed site to inspect the land. However, a naval officer, dressed in camouflage, stood his ground, insisting that the acquisition was done through proper legal channels.

“I am an officer with integrity. Everything was acquired legally,” the officer stated, countering the minister’s accusation.

When contacted for an official response, the Nigerian Navy’s spokesperson, A. Adams-Aliyu, declined to comment on the matter, saying only, “No reply for now.”
