President Bola Tinubu will on Wednesday swear-in Olatunji Disu as the substantive Inspector-General of Police, with or without screening by the senate.
Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga revealed this after the national Police Council confirmed
Disu as the IGP, following the resignation of former IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
According to Onanuga, Disu’s track record made his confirmation seamless, with some of the governors he served under testifying to his outstanding abilities.
In his reaction, chairman Nigeria’s governor’s forum and Kwara state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq noted that Disu has an important role to play in midwiving the successful execution of state police.
The former AIG assumed office as the acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) last Wednesday, at a brief ceremony at the Louis Edet House in Abuja, shortly after President Bola Tinubu decorated him as the acting IGP.
Until his appointment, Disu served in Ofun, Ondo, Lagos, Rivers and was later deployed by Egbetokun to Abuja as Commissioner of Police of the Federal Capital Territory.
