President Donald Trump indicated on Tuesday that his administration would scale back operations in Minnesota following the second fatal shooting of a U.S. citizen by federal immigration officers in the state this year.
Speaking in a Fox News interview, Trump called the shootings “terrible” and said, “We’re going to de-escalate a little bit” in Minnesota.
The two incidents involved Renee Good, who was fatally shot by an immigration officer in early January, and Alex Pretti, who was killed during an encounter with border agents this past weekend.
Pretti’s death triggered renewed local protests, national public outcry, and criticism from lawmakers across party lines.
