US President Donald Trump has urged Republicans in the House of Representatives to support the release of the long-awaited Epstein files, a notable reversal from his earlier position on the matter.
“House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide,” Trump posted on Truth Social late Sunday, signalling a dramatic shift in tone as momentum grows within his party.
The House is expected to vote this week on the Epstein Files Transparency Act, a bill that would require the Department of Justice to make public all unclassified documents, communications, and investigative records connected to Jeffrey Epstein.
The push for disclosure has drawn rare bipartisan backing. Lawmakers from both parties say the move is necessary to restore public trust and clear lingering doubts surrounding Epstein’s network and activities.
Republican Representative Thomas Massie, a co-sponsor of the bill, told ABC News that as many as 100 Republicans may support the measure — enough for it to comfortably pass the House. Its fate in the Senate, however, remains uncertain.
Should the bill clear both chambers, Trump would still have to sign it into law before the documents can be released.
The renewed push has placed fresh pressure on lawmakers and intensified public calls for transparency in one of the most controversial cases in recent US history.
