Bauchi Field Office of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has commended the crop of Journalists who are engaged in working with it for the good of the woman and child.

The commendation was made by the Chief of Field of UNICEF, Bauchi, Dr Tushar Rane during a media parley held at the Conference Hall of UNICEF, Bauchi Field Office, Bauchi.

Rane while giving an opening remarks said, “I want to say a very big thank you for taking out your time to be here with us. I will also take this opportunity to immensely thank all of you because you have been a wonderful and very important partner for us, all of you have been a wonderful support.

“I think we could not have been able to do anything alone, it is that partnership that has helped us to amplify efforts, amplify the redress, amplify our call to all the rights of the children and the women to take decisions and to come forward to access quality healthcare service delivery.

“I really thank you, you are the full partners in this sector and in the spirit of sipmlyhood we continue to work together for the common cause. So, thank you very much indeed.

“UNICEF relies on you to always amplify the cause of the woman and child to attain full life through effective and efficient healthcare service delivery to ensure that no child is left behind.”

Also speaking, Rajat Madhok, Chief of Communications, UNICEF Nigeria, said “I have met some of you in the past and had a wonderful engagement with you. I have to be very honest, one of the strongest media coverage that we have in the work we are doing is from here.

“So, I show full appreciation to you on behalf of UNICEF Nigeria. Thank you so much. I look forward to a sustained partnership for the good of the woman and child.”

In his remark, Chairman of the Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Umar Sa’idu commended UNICEF for the opportunity given to Journalists in the State to be part of the success story of Health and Education interventions.

The NUJ chairman stressed that the various trainings and workshops organised over the years have exposed the Journalists to the rudiments of advocacy journalism which has contributed to clear and objective reporting of the various interventions.

Umar Sa’idu assured that Journalists in the state will continue to support UNICEF in all its campaigns and advocacy for improved healthcare services and the provision of quality education.

He however called for more training and workshops which will further bring Journalists updates in the reportage of health and education sectors.
