A United States lawmaker has called on King Charles III to meet with survivors of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein during his expected visit to the US later this year.
While Buckingham Palace has yet to officially confirm the trip, the King and Queen Camilla are reportedly planning a visit at the end of April.
Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna made the appeal in a letter addressed to the monarch, urging him to hold a private meeting with victims to better understand their experiences and the systemic failures that enabled Epstein’s crimes.
Khanna, who co-sponsored legislation that compelled the US Department of Justice to release files related to Epstein last year, stressed that the issue extends beyond the United States.
“As you are aware, this is not solely an American matter,” he wrote, pointing to Epstein’s international connections.
The lawmaker highlighted links to the United Kingdom, including Epstein’s association with Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as his relationships with prominent British figures and access to elite social and political circles.
Buckingham Palace has previously stated that the King’s sympathies “have been, and remain with, the victims of any and all forms of abuse.”
