President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate the newly renovated National Arts Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos, on October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day.
The announcement was contained in a statement released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday.
The CBN and the Bankers’ Committee spearheaded the extensive renovation project as part of their effort to invest in Nigeria’s cultural heritage and boost the creative economy.
The theatre, renamed in July 2024 as the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts in honour of the Nobel Laureate, is expected to serve as a hub for arts, culture, and innovation.
According to the statement, the event will draw a high-profile audience including state governors, lawmakers, diplomats, industry leaders, academics, cultural figures, and youth representatives.
