The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has maintained that its forthcoming national convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State, will go ahead as originally planned, brushing aside rumours of a postponement.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary and Secretary of the 2025 National Convention Organising Publicity Sub-committee, Debo Ologunagba, in a statement issued on Wednesday, described reports of any disruption as “baseless and politically motivated.”
According to him, the opposition party remains “focused, united, and ready” to hold its convention despite what it considers a deliberate attempt by political rivals to sow confusion.
“Our national convention will take place as scheduled. Any story suggesting otherwise is false and should be disregarded. The PDP remains committed to a transparent, lawful, and successful gathering in Ibadan,” Ologunagba stated.
He further accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of sponsoring misinformation to destabilise the opposition and “create a one-party atmosphere,” adding that such schemes would be “resisted through lawful and democratic means.”
Ologunagba reaffirmed that the Convention Organising Committee was finalising logistics and mobilising delegates across the country.
“The enthusiasm among members is high,” he said, noting that party stakeholders and delegates were already arriving in Ibadan ahead of the two-day event expected to shape the PDP’s internal structure and political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.
