The Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has alleged that former United States President Donald Trump’s decision to redesignate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) is motivated by America’s strategic interest in Nigeria’s oil, mineral resources, and emerging technology sectors.
Bakare made the claim on Sunday during his State of the Nation Address delivered at the church’s headquarters, where he argued that the Trump administration sees Nigeria’s natural and economic assets as central to its foreign policy objectives.
According to him, Trump’s recent allegations of widespread Christian persecution and genocide in Nigeria are part of a broader geopolitical agenda aimed at advancing U.S. control over key sectors, including oil and gas, real estate, and the technology value chain.
Bakare also disclosed that he received what he described as a divine revelation shortly after Trump won the 2024 U.S. election. In the vision, he said the American leader arrived in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, aboard Air Force One, dressed in Arabian thobe and ghutra, and declaring, “We are here now.”
He interpreted the vision as symbolic of a heightened and complex interest Trump would develop in Nigeria, one linked to Middle East politics, global energy dynamics, real estate ambitions, and the country’s rapidly growing technology sector.
