The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Mrs. Ibukun Otesile, daughter of prominent cleric Reverend Dr. Lekan Babatunde, and says an investigation is underway to secure her release.
Otesile, a mother of two, was kidnapped by unknown persons in front of her residence in the General Gas area of Ibadan at approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
The incident was first announced in a late-night alert posted on the official Facebook page of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Oyo State chapter. The statement described Otesile as the daughter of the founder and General Overseer of Jesus Is King Ministries, Ibadan, and appealed for public support and prayers.
Police authorities say they have launched a coordinated response, deploying tactical units and working with local intelligence networks to track the kidnappers and rescue the victim. No contact has yet been established with the abductors, and no ransom demand has been made public.
Kidnapping for ransom has remained a persistent security challenge in several parts of Nigeria, including previously secure urban centres. This latest incident has heightened concerns among religious and community leaders in Ibadan, prompting calls for improved security vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement.
The Oyo State Police Command has urged anyone with useful information to come forward, assuring the public that all efforts are being made to ensure Mrs. Otesile’s safe return.
