A Chinese national has been abducted during a brazen afternoon attack on a farm in Ogunmakin Community, located in the Ibadan area of Oyo State. The incident, which occurred around 1 pm. on Thursday at the premises of Aqua Triton Company, left a policeman killed.
According to information gathered, approximately ten armed men stormed the facility in what was described as a commando-style operation. During the invasion, the assailants seized 42-year-old company director Renjith Pillai, a Chinese expatriate, while he was inspecting crops on the farm.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Oyo State Command, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the attack. “I can confirm that an attack occurred at Aqua Triton Company in Ogunmakin, near Ibadan, when unknown gunmen stormed the facility,” he stated.
Olayinka added that one police officer lost his life while attempting to repel the assailants and that the officer managed to injure some of the attackers during the exchange.
Olayinka further disclosed that the state Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, has ordered an immediate manhunt for the kidnappers. Security operations are underway to track the gunmen and secure the safe release of the abducted expatriate.
