The government of Osun State has strongly denied allegations of a N13 billion payroll scam involving Sally Tibbot Limited, describing the renewed claims as “APC-sponsored fake news.”

In a statement today, the government insisted there was no payroll fraud, noting that verification of the controversial audit report confirmed that over two-thirds of the so-called ghost workers are legitimate staff with full identification and documentation.

A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, claimed the controversial audit report showed that over two-thirds of those declared ghost workers are bona fide staff with proper identification and documentation.

According to him, Sally Tibbot Limited inflated the alleged ghost workers to 15,000 to claim a payment of about Two Billion Naira, a figure Vice Chancellor of Uniosun, Prof Adeboye described as a charade and sham.

Alimi further explained that despite the flaws in the audit, the state government implemented a homegrown payroll reform, introducing a new integrated payroll system and improving bureaucratic processes through technology.

The government reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance, while accusing the consultant of being used as a political tool by the APC.
