Governor Seyi Makinde has approved a N10,000 monthly transportation support allowance for civil servants in Oyo State, as part of efforts to ease the impact of rising living costs.
The governor made the announcement during the supervision of the YEAP-SAfER disbursement and stakeholder engagement programme held at the Fashola Agribusiness Hub, organised in collaboration with First City Monument Bank and Mastercard.
According to Makinde, the transport support, which will run for an initial three months, is aimed at cushioning the financial strain caused by increasing transportation costs, a development he said has continued to affect workers’ welfare and productivity.
He noted that the intervention is designed to provide immediate relief to public servants while ensuring uninterrupted service delivery across ministries, departments, and agencies in the state.
The governor added that the initiative forms part of his administration’s broader worker-focused policies under the SAfER framework, aimed at delivering sustainable economic support in challenging times.
