Onisarotu Distributes Food Palliatives to Over 2,000 Somolu Residents, Assures Continuity

No fewer than 2,000 residents of Somolu Local Government Area have benefitted from a food palliative distribution organised by a former councillor, Hon. Olufemi Onisarotu.

The event, which took place at the new Local Government Secretariat on Friday, also saw 200 students receive school bags and other stationery.

Speaking at the event, Onisarotu, who is aspiring to become Chairman of Somolu LGA in the 2025 polls, said the initiative was in line with his longstanding commitment to supporting the people.

“Back when I was a two-term councilor, I ensured that palliative distributions reached those in need at the ward level. This time, we have taken it further by extending the support across the entire LGA,” he said.

Acknowledging President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing reforms, Onisarotu noted that while the changes may take time to yield results, they were designed to improve the country’s future.

“The President is making changes that will benefit Nigerians in the long run. We must be patient and allow him to complete the process,” he said.

Commending the Chairman of Somolu LGA, Abdul Hamed Salawu for several laudable initiatives, the former two-term Councilor noted that he had set a path, he would strive to continue and improve on when elected as his successor.

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the LGA, Abayomi Olubamido, commended the initiative, describing it as proof of Onisarotu’s deep-rooted connection with the community.

“He is a good and competent man who loves the people and you can see that what he is doing is very good (by empowering people),” he said.

Popular actor Yomi Fabiyi, who also attended, praised Onisarotu’s history of generosity, stating that his efforts to assist others had extended beyond Somolu.

“This is not new to those who know him. He helps people regardless of where they are, as long as they have ties to this council,” Fabiyi said.

He called on residents of the local government to support individuals like Onisarotu who are committed to the welfare of the masses.

Several beneficiaries, including students and adults, expressed their gratitude, many offering prayers for Onisarotu and urging him to continue the initiative.

In response, Onisarotu assured them that the scheme would not be a one-off exercise.
