The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State is facing mounting internal tensions, with party stakeholders warning that unresolved disputes could weaken its chances in future elections.
In an open letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, prominent members of the Ireakari Group raised concerns over what they described as manipulation and exclusion within the party’s structure and decision-making processes.
The letter, signed by key figures including ‘Debo Adesina (Chairman) and Ope Adisa (Secretary), alongside other leaders across the state’s zones, acknowledged Tinubu’s role in building the APC into a dominant political force. However, the group cautioned that the party in Oyo must urgently address its internal challenges to avoid repeating past electoral setbacks.
Referencing the party’s losses in the 2019 and 2023 elections, the stakeholders warned that continued division and lack of transparency could further erode its competitiveness.
“While Tinubu beyond 2027 is non-negotiable, the Oyo APC cannot afford to be derailed by aspirants whose tactics threaten the party’s unity and transparency,” the group stated.
They further stressed that failure to resolve the crisis could hinder the party’s ability to present credible candidates for upcoming zonal and national positions.
