Fifteen-time major champion Tiger Woods has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a car crash in Florida.
Authorities in Martin County confirmed that the 50-year-old golfer was taken into custody after his vehicle overturned during the incident on Jupiter Island on Friday afternoon.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Woods was also charged with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
Sheriff John Budensiek disclosed that Woods lost control of his Land Rover after attempting to overtake a truck at high speed, clipping the vehicle before rolling over on Beach Road.
Although Woods passed a breathalyser test at the scene, officers suspected possible impairment by another substance after observing signs during roadside assessments. He later declined to undergo a urine test.
The golfer reportedly crawled out of the vehicle through the passenger door after the crash. Despite the severity of the incident, no injuries were recorded.
Officials said DUI investigators conducted multiple field tests before placing Woods under arrest, noting that his medical history and prior surgeries were taken into consideration during the assessment.
