The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service has extended the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns to April 14, offering taxpayers in the state additional time to meet their obligations.
The initial deadline of March 31 had been announced on February 25 for the 2026 year of assessment. However, in a statement issued on Monday and signed by Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, Head of Corporate Communications, the agency confirmed the extension.
According to the Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, the decision was made to allow taxpayers more time to complete and submit their returns accurately.
Subair urged residents to treat tax compliance as a routine civic responsibility, emphasising the importance of timely and error-free submissions.
He also reiterated that the LIRS eTax platform remains the only approved channel for filing annual returns, noting that manual submissions have been fully discontinued.
The extension, the agency said, is aimed at improving compliance while ensuring taxpayers have adequate time to file correctly.
