Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has withdrawn from the 2027 Lagos State governorship race under the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the need to preserve party unity and align with the leadership direction of the party.
Jandor, who had earlier purchased the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest the governorship election, said his decision followed consultations and recent developments within the party structure.
He noted that the endorsement of Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other party leaders in Lagos played a key role in his decision to step down.
According to him, the withdrawal was not driven by weakness or inability, but by discipline, respect for party cohesion, and a commitment to collective progress.
“This decision is not borne out of weakness or a lack of capacity, but out of strength, discipline, and a deep respect for party cohesion and unity,” he said.
Jandor reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the President’s leadership as central to the stability and progress of both the party and the nation.
He also declared full alignment with the party’s direction on the Lagos governorship process, emphasizing the importance of party supremacy and strategic unity.
Addressing his supporters under the Lagos4Lagos Movement, Jandor expressed gratitude for their loyalty and described the movement as one rooted in equity and inclusion.
He urged supporters to remain calm and united, stressing that the decision should be seen as part of a broader political journey rather than an end to his political engagement.
Jandor concluded by calling for continued support for the APC and reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Lagos State.
