The Redeemed Christian Church of God has said it is awaiting the outcome of an ongoing investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving one of its pastors in Ogbomoso.
The church’s Publicity Secretary, Lanre Oyegbola, confirmed on Saturday that the church was aware of the allegations and monitoring developments surrounding the case.
The accused pastor is reportedly a youth pastor at RCCG Strongtower Parish, located near Ladoke Akintola University of Technology.
The incident gained widespread public attention following a dramatic confrontation during a church service, where a woman identified as a student of the university publicly accused the pastor of attempted rape and sexual coercion.
In a video that has circulated widely on social media, the student alleged that the pastor invited her to his residence under the guise of collecting food she had purchased for him.
According to her account, the pastor allegedly attempted to force himself on her despite repeated refusals.
The woman further claimed that after allegedly failing to achieve penetration, the pastor demanded oral sex and later boasted about having similar encounters with other female church members.
Reacting to the development, Oyegbola stated that the church would allow the investigation process to run its course before making further pronouncements on the matter.
