Arsenal have moved to the brink of ending their 22-year wait for a Premier League title after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Burnley strengthened their grip at the top of the table.

The result leaves manager Mikel Arteta on the verge of delivering the club’s first league title since 2004 and potentially ending years of near misses for the North London side.

The Gunners could be crowned champions as early as Tuesday if Manchester City fail to beat Bournemouth. Any result short of victory for City would hand Arsenal the title before the final round of fixtures.

Even if City secure all three points, Arsenal would still control their own destiny and require a win against Crystal Palace on the final day of the season to seal the championship.

The atmosphere at Emirates Stadium reflected the significance of the occasion, with supporters gathering early to welcome the team bus with chants and flares before kick-off.

Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal with a first-half header to hand Arsenal another crucial victory in a tense encounter.

Although Arsenal faced pressure in the second half and Havertz was fortunate to avoid a red card following a late challenge, the club held on to secure its eighth 1-0 league win of the season.

The result further strengthens Arsenal’s position at the summit, with history also appearing to favour Arteta’s side. No club in Premier League history has entered the final day at the top of the table and failed to win the title.

Meanwhile, reports surrounding the possible departure of Pep Guardiola have added further intrigue to the title race, with many Arsenal supporters believing the club could be entering a new era of success.

Attention now shifts to Manchester City’s meeting with Bournemouth, a result that could determine whether Arsenal’s long-awaited title celebrations begin before the final weekend of the season.
