The factional Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has paid a visit to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in Ibadan.
Turaki, who was accompanied by members of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) led by Adolphus Wabara and the interim National Working Committee (NWC), described the visit as a solidarity call.
He said the delegation visited the governor to commiserate with him and the people of Oyo State over the recent rise in cases of kidnapping and killings in the state, while also calling for improved national security.
According to Turaki, Nigeria’s current security structure has failed to adequately address the growing insecurity challenges across the country.
He argued that the federal system is not effectively responding to rising security threats at the subnational level.
The visit comes shortly after Governor Seyi Makinde declared his presidential ambition on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), following a coalition involving the APM and the Turaki-led PDP faction.
