The Lagos State Police Command has deployed more than 10,000 operatives across strategic locations in Lagos to ensure security during the Sallah celebrations.

Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, disclosed this during a briefing at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Tuesday.

According to the police commissioner, the deployment forms part of measures aimed at strengthening visibility policing, preventing criminal activities, and guaranteeing public safety during and after the festive period.

Tijani revealed that intensified operations in identified crime-prone areas had already led to the arrest of several suspects.

He assured residents that the command remained fully prepared to address any security threats, especially as the state experiences increased movement of people and vehicles during the holiday.

The commissioner explained that officers had been stationed at places of worship, highways, recreational centres, and other public spaces to maintain law and order throughout the celebrations.

“If you look at it physically, you will see the visibility of policemen across the state,” he said.

Tijani also noted that the command had activated contingency plans to prevent possible security breaches before, during, and after the Eid festivities.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with useful and timely information, stressing that effective policing depends on collaboration between the police and the public.
