The Kebbi State Police Command is investigating the death of Zaharadden Nuhu, a 300-level student of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK), who died under unclear circumstances in Kalgo Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the incident occurred in the early hours of 11th June 2026 within a private compound predominantly occupied by students, but not a university-owned hostel.
Usman said Preliminary findings revealed that the victim was found with injuries and rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, where he later died while receiving treatment. The assailant is yet to be identified.
Police officers who visited the scene secured the area and commenced a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.
The Command urged residents and students to remain calm and avoid speculation, noting that conclusions at this stage could create unnecessary tension.
