The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Yemi Adaramodu, has clarified that individual senators are not responsible for any legal issues arising from the procurement of official vehicles for members of the National Assembly.

Adaramodu, who represents Ekiti South Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that lawmakers play no role in the procurement process and should not be held accountable for matters related to the acquisition of official vehicles.

Speaking in reaction to a recent court ruling concerning the purchase of official vehicles for National Assembly members, the Senate spokesman emphasized that senators were neither parties to the procurement exercise nor involved in the selection or purchase of the vehicles.

According to him, the procurement of official vehicles is solely the responsibility of the National Assembly bureaucracy, which oversees the determination of vehicle needs, procurement procedures, purchase processes, and allocation of vehicles for legislative and committee assignments.

Adaramodu maintained that lawmakers only make use of vehicles assigned to them for official duties, stressing that all procurement decisions are handled administratively by the relevant departments within the National Assembly.

His remarks come amid growing public interest in the court ruling and discussions surrounding transparency and accountability in government procurement processes.
