Former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has pleaded not guilty to a six-count charge bordering on alleged forgery of academic credentials, obtaining money under false pretences and money laundering.
Nnaji was arraigned before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
According to the charges, the former minister is accused of forging academic qualifications, receiving about ₦29.5 million in salaries and other emoluments under false pretences, and engaging in money laundering.
Following his arraignment, Justice Abdulmalik granted Nnaji bail in the sum of ₦20 million with one surety in like amount.
The court also directed that the appropriate authority verify the employment status of the surety before the bail conditions are deemed satisfied.
In addition, the defendant was ordered to deposit his international passport and all other travel documents with the court pending the determination of the case.
The case was adjourned until September 21, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
