The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has commenced moves to strike off about 100,000 companies from its register over failure to file mandatory annual returns and other statutory documents.
The commission announced the exercise in a public notice issued on Wednesday, describing it as Batch 6 of its ongoing deregistration process.
According to the CAC, the action is being carried out in line with the provisions of Section 692 (3) and (4) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, which empowers the commission to remove companies that fail to meet regulatory obligations.
The affected companies have been listed on the commission’s official website for public access.
The notice signed by the CAC management stated that the exercise was aimed at cleaning up the companies’ register and ensuring that only compliant and active businesses remain registered.
It urged companies and stakeholders to check the published list and take necessary steps where applicable.
