The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, says police officer, Sgt. John Abena, who died during a joint security operation to rescue schoolchildren abducted in Oyo State paid the ultimate price.
Speaking while receiving the personnel who took part in the rescue mission, Disu also commended the operatives involved for their bravery and success.
He explained that making public the death of police officers killed in the line of duty, ensures that they are mourned and celebrated as practiced globally.
The police chief disclosed that other officers who sustained injuries during the operation are responding well to treatment, and assured that the force would continue catering for their welfare as well as the family of the slain officer.
He appealed to members of the public to volunteer useful information to security agencies to aid the capture of terrorists and rescue of victims.
