The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed reports claiming that the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, is under investigation for alleged visa racketeering. The agency clarified that its ongoing probe is focused solely on some immigration officers accused of visa fraud.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the Commission said it has no case against Nandap. It noted that criminal cases involving some Nigeria Immigration Service officers are already before the Federal High Court, while further investigations could lead to additional prosecutions.
The EFCC also urged media organisations to verify information with the Commission before publishing reports on its activities, stressing that the Immigration Comptroller-General is not connected to the ongoing visa fraud investigation.
