Prophet Sam Olu Alo has called for increased government investment in agriculture and skills-based education as part of efforts to tackle hunger, poverty and unemployment among Nigerians.
Speaking at the grand finale of the annual “Sure Mercy of David” meeting, the founder of Christ Apostolic Church, Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain, particularly urged authorities to encourage more young Nigerians to venture into farming.
Olu Alo said Nigeria has large areas of arid land that could be developed for agricultural purposes, urging the government to channel resources towards making such areas productive.
According to him, stronger support for agriculture would help address food shortages and create economic opportunities for young people.
On education, the cleric said formal education alone may no longer be sufficient given the country’s current economic realities.
He advocated an education system that combines academic learning with practical and vocational skills, enabling young people to apply what they learn to real-world economic opportunities.
As part of efforts to encourage education, Olu Alo distributed books to children between the ages of two and 10 and urged them to take their studies seriously.
He said developing both the minds and practical abilities of young Nigerians would be critical to addressing the country’s long-term economic challenges.
