The founder of Christ Apostolic Church, Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain, Prophet Sam Olu Alo, has called on the government to subsidise industrialisation as part of efforts to help poor Nigerians establish businesses and make productive investments.
Olu Alo made the call at the grand finale of the annual meeting of the church, tagged “Sure Mercy of David.”
The cleric said government policies focused mainly on distributing money to poor Nigerians should not be mistaken for genuine empowerment, arguing that sustainable intervention should equip citizens with the means to generate income.
He advocated greater government support for small-scale businesses and productive ventures, particularly those that can enable low-income Nigerians establish sustainable sources of livelihood.
Olu Alo also identified skills acquisition as an important component of economic empowerment, noting that Nigerians should be encouraged to acquire practical skills that can translate into income-generating opportunities.
He said initiatives such as tailoring, hat making, baking and confectionery could provide citizens with opportunities to become economically independent.
The cleric maintained that government intervention should go beyond temporary financial assistance and focus on creating an environment where Nigerians can build businesses, invest and contribute to economic growth.
