The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has endorsed the G-100 initiative aimed at forming a broad opposition alliance to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The party announced its position in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, on behalf of the Interim National Working Committee.

According to the PDP, its decision to support the initiative is driven by what it described as the growing hardship, insecurity and economic difficulties being experienced by Nigerians under the Bola Tinubu administration.

The party said it was prepared to work with other credible political parties and organisations in an effort to form a united opposition platform capable of challenging the APC in the next general election.

The PDP said its participation in the G-100 process would be guided by principles including transparency, equality, data-driven decision-making and egalitarianism.

The party’s National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, said the success of the proposed coalition would depend on ensuring that its decision-making process was credible and inclusive.

“Our participation is anchored on the promise that the process will be hinged on the philosophical underpinnings of transparency, equality, data-driven decisions and egalitarianism,” Turaki said.

He added that a process based on those principles could produce leadership capable of addressing what the party described as rising poverty and insecurity in the country.

The PDP said its latest position was consistent with its earlier commitment to collaborate with like-minded political parties and organisations seeking to challenge the APC and address Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges.

The party also confirmed that its representatives participated in the first meeting of the G-100 on August 31, 2026, describing the participation as an indication of its willingness to contribute to the development of an all-opposition platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to the PDP, the proposed platform would seek to defeat the incumbent party at the polls and pursue what it described as the rebuilding of Nigeria in the interest of citizens.

The party, however, did not provide details on the structure of the proposed alliance, its prospective presidential candidate or how participating opposition parties would resolve questions surrounding leadership and candidate selection.
