The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has inspected steel industries in Ikorodu as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen environmental compliance across Lagos State.
The inspection focused on key areas including effluent and wastewater discharge, environmental monitoring systems and compliance with approved environmental standards.
LASEPA said regular monitoring of industrial activities is essential to preventing pollution, protecting communities around industrial areas and ensuring that economic growth does not come at the expense of environmental safety.
The agency stressed that environmental compliance is not a one-time exercise, noting that industries must continually meet the required standards to minimise their environmental impact.
According to LASEPA, it will continue to monitor industrial facilities, engage operators and take enforcement action where necessary.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a cleaner, safer and more sustainable Lagos while ensuring that industrial activities are carried out responsibly.
