A man has raised the alarm over the alleged removal of iron components from electricity poles in parts of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, warning that continued vandalism could put residents at risk and affect electricity supply.
In a video circulating online, the man is seen moving around the area and pointing at electricity poles and other power infrastructure. He alleges that some of the iron components attached to the poles have been removed, apparently by suspected vandals.
He expressed concern that the removal of critical components could weaken the structures and potentially expose residents, motorists and other road users to danger if affected poles become unstable or collapse.
The development is particularly concerning given the wider impact of electricity infrastructure vandalism across Nigeria. In recent months, vandalism of transmission towers and other power facilities has caused damage to critical infrastructure and contributed to power disruptions in several parts of the country.

In June 2026, for instance, the Transmission Company of Nigeria said six towers along the Apir-Lafia transmission line in Nasarawa State were destroyed by vandals, disrupting electricity supply to affected areas.
