The Oba of Oko Baba Agba in Oworoshonki, Oba Kabir Adesegun Bashir ( Ilufemiloye Odundun I) has reaffirmed his commitment to the progress, development and wellbeing of the people of Oworo, saying he would not remain indifferent to issues affecting his community.
The monarch disclosed that his administration was working on several initiatives behind the scenes aimed at improving the lives of residents and securing a better future for the community.
Speaking during an interview with Adamimogo FM Nigeria, Oba Bashir also addressed concerns surrounding the demolition of houses and alleged displacement of residents in parts of the Oworo area.
He said some affected residents had approached him to complain that their houses and properties were demolished, leaving them without shelter.
According to the monarch, he had been providing support to some of those affected within the limits of his capacity, while noting that the matter was currently before the courts.
Oba Bashir said the welfare and happiness of his people remained a major priority of his reign.
“I am always happy when I see joy and happiness on the faces of my people,” the monarch said, stressing that he would continue to work toward improving the lives of indigenes and residents of Oworo.
He expressed appreciation for the support and acceptance he had received from the people since ascending the throne in 2021.
The monarch further pledged to uphold the dignity of the traditional institution and ensure that his reign remained focused on the interests, welfare and development of the Oworo community.
He said his administration would continue to explore initiatives capable of promoting growth, unity and a better quality of life for the people.
