The Oyo State Government, through the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), has commenced a five-day staff audit and verification exercise across the state’s 33 Local Government Areas.
The exercise, which began on Wednesday, is aimed at verifying the authenticity of workers and ensuring proper documentation of personnel in the local government service.
In a statement signed by the Director of Education and Social Services, Foluso Lala, the commission said the exercise would also help strengthen personnel records and ensure accurate and up-to-date data.
The exercise commenced at Ojongbodu in Oyo West Local Government Area, where workers from Oyo West and Afijio Local Governments were verified.
It was also held at Offa Meta in Atiba Local Government Area, with staff from Atiba and Oyo East Local Governments participating in the exercise.
In the Ogbomoso zone, workers from Ogo-Oluwa, Surulere and Ogbomoso South Local Governments converged at Arowomole in Ogbomoso South for the verification.
Speaking on the exercise, the Chairman of the Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, said the exercise was not intended to witch-hunt any worker.
He said the exercise was designed to improve record-keeping, ensure accurate personnel data and promote professionalism and efficiency in local government service delivery.
Wolekanle urged workers to remain committed to their duties and strive for excellence in carrying out their responsibilities.

Members of the commission and its management team participated in the exercise, alongside labour leaders, including officials of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).
The exercise is expected to continue in other Local Government Areas of the state on Thursday.
