Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for stronger efforts to protect schools, teachers and children from attacks, stressing that education is vital to securing the future.
She made the call in a message to mark the 2026 International Day to Protect Education from Attack, observed on September 9, with the theme, “Education Can Survive Attack.”
Tinubu, who described herself as an educationist, said schools provide children with opportunities to discover their abilities, develop their dreams and build hope for the future.
She warned that attacks targeting schools, teachers and students could disrupt education and negatively affect the future of communities.
The First Lady urged stakeholders to work together to protect schools, support teachers and guarantee every child’s right to learn in a safe environment.

She said safeguarding education is a shared responsibility and called on all stakeholders to ensure that children can attend school without fear.
Tinubu added that protecting education means preserving hope and building a secure future for the country.
