A Magistrate’s Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered that a 67-year-old man, Lamidi Salau, and his 65-year-old wife, Lamidi Aina Abigail, be kept in custody over the alleged killing of a 25-year-old housewife, Kehinde Omize.

The couple were brought before the court over allegations that they conspired with another person, who is still at large, to commit the alleged offence.

According to the prosecution, the incident happened on September 9, 2026, within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District, with the defendants facing allegations of conspiracy and murder.

The prosecuting officer, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that investigations into the matter were still ongoing and urged it to grant an application for the suspects to be remanded for 30 days.

Oriyomi said the case file had already been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice, adding that the alleged offences were punishable under Sections 244 and 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor maintained that the circumstances surrounding the alleged killing required further investigation before the matter could proceed to trial.

The defendants, represented by Barrister L.A. Fasanmi, did not enter pleas because the application before the court was for their remand pending further investigation.

In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, approved the prosecution’s application and directed that the couple be held at the Correctional Facility in Ado-Ekiti.

The case was adjourned until October 9, 2026, for mention.
