Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from the reported inclusion of her name in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, saying she was listed without her knowledge and has no interest in partisan politics.
Abraham made this clarification on Friday in a post on X while responding to a social media user who suggested that her decision to reject the reported appointment could shield her from further online criticism.
The actress explained that her decision was not influenced by what she described as bullying on social media, but rather by the fact that her name appeared on the campaign council list without her consent.
She said, “I didn’t do it because of any bully. I did it because it was the right thing to do. I woke up and saw my name on a list I knew absolutely nothing about.”
Abraham further stated that she had previously made her position clear, stressing that she was not interested in politics. She also thanked the social media user for the support and goodwill.
The actress had earlier reacted to reports of her inclusion in the Lagos APC Campaign Council, where her name reportedly appeared under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
Abraham said she was not a member of any campaign council and urged members of the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.
Her clarification comes as political parties and their campaign structures continue preparations for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election, with prominent figures from different sectors being associated with political campaigns and support groups.
