The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured air travellers that airport operations across the country remain safe, secure and functional despite the ongoing industrial action by aviation unions.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, FAAN said it was closely monitoring developments arising from the industrial action and was working with relevant aviation agencies, airlines, security agencies and other stakeholders to minimise its impact on passengers.
The Authority acknowledged the role of organised labour and expressed support for ongoing efforts by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, and other stakeholders to resolve the issues behind the industrial action amicably.
FAAN said earlier operational challenges affecting the movement of some flights within the airside environment had been addressed through inter-agency coordination.
It added that measures were being sustained to ensure the orderly continuation of flight operations and minimise disruption to passengers.
The airport authority reaffirmed its commitment to keeping Nigeria’s airports safe, secure, functional and accessible to passengers and other airport users.
FAAN advised passengers to remain calm and maintain contact with their respective airlines for real-time updates on their flights.
The Authority also expressed appreciation to travellers for their understanding and patience, while expressing confidence that ongoing engagements under the leadership of the Aviation Minister would result in a speedy and mutually acceptable resolution of the dispute.
