Victor Osimhen is expected to return to action for Galatasaray in their first match following the international break, according to reports from Turkish media outlet .
The striker was initially named in Nigeria’s Super Eagles squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau. However, following discussions between the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Galatasaray, an agreement was reached to withdraw him from international duty to prioritize his recovery.
Osimhen suffered a right adductor (groin) injury during Galatasaray’s match against İstanbul Başakşehir on September 4. The injury has forced him to miss subsequent fixtures against Sporting CP, Kocaelispor, and Trabzonspor. Galatasaray medical staff advised against his national team involvement to facilitate full treatment.
With his recovery progressing well, Osimhen is nearing a return to full team training. The former African Footballer of the Year is targeted to re-enter the squad for Galatasaray’s Süper Lig match against Kasımpaşa on October 9.

Prior to his injury, Osimhen started the campaign in strong form, recording six goals and two assists across four matches.
