The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the expulsion of Chief Ganiyu Kolawole Egunjobi and Azeez Yusuf over what the party described as anti-party activities, disloyalty and conduct inimical to the integrity and discipline of the organisation.
In a statement, the party said Egunjobi and Yusuf were former members who contested the APC primary elections for Agege Constituencies I and II respectively, as part of the 2026 Lagos State House of Assembly nomination process, but failed to secure the party’s tickets.
According to the Lagos APC, the two subsequently obtained tickets from another political party instead of accepting the outcome of the APC’s internal process or pursuing available avenues of redress.
The party described the move as a repudiation of the obligations of APC membership and an act of anti-party activity and disloyalty.
The Lagos APC said the purported resignations of the two individuals amounted to what it described as a belated attempt to avoid disciplinary consequences.
The party maintained that members seeking elective office are expected to pursue their ambitions within the framework of its constitution and applicable electoral laws.
It added that members who lose internal contests are expected to accept the outcome or seek redress through legitimate channels provided by the party and the law.
The APC said it had invoked the relevant provisions of Article 9(5)(II) of the APC Constitution, as amended in 2022, in taking disciplinary action against the two former members.
The party also referenced the 2026 electoral framework, noting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has emphasised compliance with the Electoral Act 2026 and its regulations governing the electoral process.
The Lagos APC consequently declared that Egunjobi and Yusuf were no longer members of the party.
It warned that neither individual was authorised to speak for, represent, negotiate on behalf of, or transact any business with any person, organisation or institution in the name of the Lagos State APC or the APC.
The party urged its members, supporters, stakeholders and the general public to take note of the development and refrain from dealing with either individual as a representative or authorised agent of the party.
The Lagos APC said it remained committed to internal democracy, discipline, loyalty and adherence to its rules, adding that it would continue to take steps to protect the cohesion and credibility of the party ahead of the forthcoming elections.
