The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ekiti State Chapter, has denied reports circulating on social media that former Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka, has been adopted as the state leader of the party.
In a public notice signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Rt. Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan , the party said neither the State Executive Committee, State Working Committee nor the Stakeholders Forum had adopted Eleka as its state leader.
The party explained that the position of State Leader is not recognised in the ADC constitution, adding that any leadership arrangement must follow due consultations, constitutional provisions and receive the approval of the national leadership.
The ADC further alleged that some individuals who collaborated with the opposition during the last governorship election compromised the efforts of party members, saying such persons could not be presented as leaders of the party in the state.
It described the publication identifying Eleka as the ADC Ekiti State Leader as false, unauthorised and misleading, urging party members, the general public and the national secretariat to disregard it.
The statement said the leadership of the party in Ekiti remained under the State Executive Committee led by Dr Bamidele Ekunola, working with the National Working Committee headed by National Chairman, Senator David Mark.
