Nigerian fashion enthusiast Oluwa Nifemi is setting her sights on a Guinness World Records title with an ambitious plan to create the world’s longest wedding dress train.
Nifemi is targeting the existing record of 8,095.40 metres and hopes to surpass the benchmark with a wedding gown designed to combine fashion, creativity and scale.
She elaborated on this during a courtesy visit with her team to Adamimogo 105.1FM Ibadan on Wednesday.
According to her, the project is more than an attempt to produce an exceptionally long train. She sees it as an opportunity to demonstrate the possibilities within Nigeria’s fashion and creative industry while taking an unconventional idea to the global stage.
Nifemi said she wants the public to understand the vision behind the project and appreciate the creativity, resources and determination required to bring it to life.
The proposed record attempt is expected to push the boundaries of conventional wedding fashion, with the length of the train presenting a major logistical and creative challenge.
For Nifemi, however, the project represents more than the size of a wedding gown. It is an expression of ambition and a statement about the ability of Nigerian creatives to develop ideas capable of attracting international attention.
In a response, the acting manager at the station, Mr Fortune Omosola promised that the radio outfit would support the attempt where necessary.
As preparations continue, Nifemi hopes the project will eventually culminate in an official Guinness World Records attempt and establish her name in the record books.
