The Chief Executive Officer,  Air Peace Limited, Allen Onyema, has urged Nigerians to embrace nationalism against ethnicity and religious dogma for the development of the country.

Onyema stated this while delivering a lecture titled “Leading by Example: Instilling Trust and Confidence in Subordinates”,  for course participants of Senior Course 46 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji on Monday in Kaduna.

He said,  “We have to thank the military and appreciate the sacrifices they have made in keeping the country one.

“The citizens have to appreciate their sacrifices and support the Armed Forces of Nigeria, especially at this trying time.

“We believe in our military, we see  the military that is fighting for us to keep our country safe.”

Onyema added that Nigeria is great a nation, saying, “It is a country of 378 ethnic nationalities that make up this country with strength and diversity.

”Nigeria is a great country, nobody should kid you. Yes, the outside world may stigmatise us, we shouldn’t allow ourselves to be stigmatised as a nation.”

He called on Nigerians not to stigmatise each other along ethnic and religious lines.

The Air Peace boss said once Nigerians can achieve serious unity in the nation’s diversity,  “The rest is history.

“Nigeria is the envy of the entire world, forget whatever anybody tells you, we have human and natural resources, and the human capital in Nigeria is unbelievable.

“Having 378 ethnic nationalities means that every tribe has a positive attribute to contribute to the centre, which every Nigerian is to be encouraged.

According to Omyema, there is true nationalism in the military which every Nigerian should emulate.

In his remarks the Commandant, AFCSC, AVM Hassan Alhaji, appreciated the Air Peace boss for coming to the college to share his knowledge with the students.

Alhaji said that the lecture showed that there was life after military service.

“This our uniform is to make Nigeria a greater nation and defend it at all times, “Alhaji said.

Five persons were confirmed to have been killed in attacks that occurred on Wednesday in two separate communities in Taraba State. The attacks took place in Gashaka and Wukari local government councils. While that of Gashaka that led to the killing of three persons occurred in Mayo-Sabere in Mai-Idanu ward, the Wukari incident which claimed two farmers, took place in the Rafin-Kada community. Those killed in Gashaka are Mallam Adamu Yahya, 70, Abdu Yahaya, 52 and Nuhu Yahya, 42. The identities of the two farmers could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report. Wukari council chairman, Ismaila Dauda, who made the confirmation, told DAILY POST that the attack on the farmers was carried out by Tiv militias. “It is true; two persons were killed while working in their farms by Tiv militias. I pray God Almighty will grant them eternal rest and comfort us all in Jesus’ name,” he stated. While urging the people of the community to distance themselves from acts that would lead to reprisal attacks, the leadership of the council in collaboration with the security operatives, he said, were working round the clock to track down the militias. “May I seize this opportunity to appeal to all the good people of Wukari not to take laws into their hands and allow the security agencies to investigate this issue and come up with their findings,” he begged. Sources from Gashaka council, who spoke with our reporter, said apart from the three persons killed, several people also sustained various degrees of injuries. They also blamed the rangers of the Gumti National Park for the attack in Gashaka. Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Gambo Kwache confirmed the incidents. “It was confirmed that two persons were killed in Wukari and three in Gashaka,” he disclosed. The cases, according to her, “are still under investigation and efforts are on top gear to apprehend the culprits.”
