United States Consul General in Lagos, Brandon Hudspeth, has hosted Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy at the US Consulate in Lagos for discussions on expanding economic collaboration between the American and Nigerian creative industries.
The meeting, held on Friday, focused on translating the longstanding cultural ties between both countries into tangible business opportunities for artists, entertainment companies and other stakeholders.
According to a post on the US Mission in Nigeria’s official X account, discussions centred on building commercial partnerships among American and Nigerian recording studios, record labels and streaming platforms.
Other key areas included strengthening intellectual property protection, facilitating exchanges between artists and industry professionals, and attracting investment in creative infrastructure.
The US Mission said both parties explored practical ways to deepen partnerships that would benefit creators, businesses and audiences in both countries.
The engagement highlights the growing international influence of Nigerian music and the opportunities for expanding cross-border investment and cooperation in the entertainment sector.
It also reflects ongoing efforts by the US Mission in Nigeria to promote the creative economy as a driver of economic growth, business development and cultural exchange between the two countries.
