Manchester United striker, Joe Hugill has left manager, Erik ten Hag’s pre-season squad to join Wigan Athletic on loan for the 2024/25 season.

The Red Devils made the announcement in a statement on their website on Thursday.

Hugill scored Man United’s second goal as Ten Hag’s side defeated Rangers 2-0 in a pre-season friendly clash last Saturday.

The 20-year-old was handed the no.9 shirt at the League One club.

He will hope to obtain regular first-team football and gain experience under manager Shaun Maloney.

“Everyone wishes Joe the very best of luck and we’ll be monitoring his progress closely over the season,” Man United’s statement read.
