A public affairs analyst, Mr. Ola Olalere, has described the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari as one of the biggest mistakes made by Nigerians and his supporters.
Speaking virtually on Adamimogo FM’s The Follow Up Show, Olalere reflected on Buhari’s legacy following his recent death, saying his reaction was mixed due to the contrast between the leader Nigerians expected and the one they got.
Olalere stated that while Buhari of the 1980s known for the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) gave Nigerians hope, the Buhari who returned as a democratic president failed to live up to that image. He stressed that Buhari’s presidency was a major national error.
While he noted that Buhari himself may not have been corrupt, Olalere pointed out that the people surrounding him were largely responsible for the failures of his administration, suggesting the former leader was unaware or indifferent to their excesses.
