The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Shomolu Local Government Area of Lagos State, Oluwabukola Okeowo, has expressed confidence that the party is overcoming its internal challenges as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Adamimogo FM Lagos, Okeowo disclosed that most of the disagreements within the party had been resolved, while efforts were ongoing to address the remaining issues, particularly the emergence of the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos State.
She explained that differences of opinion are common in political organisations but stressed that members of the ADC remain committed to unity and the collective goal of winning elections in Lagos State and across the country.
According to her, no governorship candidate has been officially adopted by the party, despite growing interest from several aspirants seeking the ADC ticket ahead of the next election cycle.
Okeowo also dismissed concerns that the party’s internal disagreements would weaken its support base in Shomolu, maintaining that residents have continued to show confidence in the ADC.
She said the party’s grassroots mobilisation efforts were gaining momentum, adding that members were intensifying engagement with communities to strengthen support ahead of the polls.
The ADC chairman further appealed to Nigerians to obtain and protect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the document as the most powerful tool for bringing about democratic change.
She added that the party would sustain its voter education campaign to encourage citizens not to exchange their votes for temporary incentives or palliatives during elections.
Among those reported to have expressed interest in the ADC governorship ticket in Lagos State is Ghadebo Rhodes-Vivour, alongside other aspirants, although the party is yet to announce its preferred candidate.
