Senate President Godswill Akpabio has claimed that many of those attacking President Bola Tinubu and his supporters on social media are being paid, while urging northern youths to intensify grassroots mobilisation for the President’s re-election in 2027.
Akpabio made the allegation on Wednesday when a northern youth group, the Arewa Revival Project, led by its coordinator Mustafa Ibrahim, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
The group, whose members come from the 19 northern states, presented an award to the Senate President in recognition of his contributions to nation-building.
Thanking the group for the recognition, Akpabio called on its members to mobilise support for Tinubu at the grassroots, saying Nigerians should be made to appreciate the benefits of continuity in government. He said the efforts were aimed at stabilising the future of young people and ensuring Nigeria’s survival.
“It is not going to be easy for you because most of those who are attacking the President and attacking these young men on social media are being paid. You are not being paid,” Akpabio said. He acknowledged that the youths may not have the same energy and time as the paid critics, but urged them to gather young people periodically and help them see the truth.
He added that attacking a government that is working well for Nigerians and trying to bring uncertainty is not the best course.
