The Ekiti state Police Command has confirmed the arrest of armed thugs allegedly sponsored by a serving House of Representatives member in Ekiti State.
The State Police Commissioner, Falade Michael, said The suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons at Onikoyi Hotel, Ikun-Ekiti, after intelligence was received concerning their arrival in the state.
According to the police commissioner, the suspects confessed to being political thugs hired by a serving member of the House of Representatives representing Moba/Ilejemeje/Ido-Osi Federal Constituency, Hon. Akinlayo Davidson, to disrupt the primary election. earlier scheduled for today in the state.
The APC had earlier scheduled the House of Representatives primary election for Friday, May 15, 2026 but the Party postponed it to Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Falade, assured that the hoodlums will be charged in court, and effort is underway to arrest other fleeing gang members and their sponsor.
